Back to the autopilot question
a few weeks back I inquired about the appropriate autopilot for my hydraulic steered sailboat. After lengthy discussion, I ordered the recommended EV400 system with the 81202 drive unit. Looking at the instructions I noticed it said that the unit was made for mechanical steering, not hydraulic. I'm in Panama on a limited visa, do I have to ship this thing back and either cancel or reorder or can I make modifications to it to accept the hydraulic steering. Mounting the unit opposite the steering piston is out of the question, both units would be working against each other.My current configuration is the port and st'bd hydraulic lines are 'y' d into the hydraulic pump and piston. Can I do the same with the 81202?See More
