Adding Evermore 320 to Smartpilot
Trying to replace my Raymarine 120 GPS with a evermore 320 with wires. I have a auto pilot that uses the NMEA input on my Raymarine C120 so I can't hook up the gps with the 5 prong cable. I have been told that 320 is NMEA compatible and you, Raymarine, stated previously:All of our current autopilots are directly NMEA compatible. The autopilot has a NMEA IN (+)and a NMEA IN (-). Some other manufacturers' GPS units have a slightly different NMEA wiring configuration with a NMEA IN (+), NMEA OUT (+), and a single ground wire which serves as the negative for NMEA IN, NMEA OUT, and Power.Connect the GPS units NMEA OUT (+) to the Raymarine pilot's NMEA IN (+). Then, to connect negative side, run a line from the Raymarine NMEA IN (-) to the GPS ground wire, or to ground. Some GPS units have a configurable NMEA Output. Make sure that it is set to output 4800 baud, NMEA 0183, and if selectable version 1.5 or higher. So I hooked the gps green wire to the NMEA IN + and the gps shield (loose black) to the NMEA IN -Then for the power I hooked the gps red to the red pos and the black to the black neg on the smartpilot power inputs I closely wrapped the wires with the existing wires and replace bothI am not getting a signal. I have gone to my C120 diagnostic page and see that under external interfaces/ NMEA 0183/ buffer I have Tx (output) but no Rx (input)there was another post from evermore on Raymarine's support page that described the wires as: Evermore's ( Mrs Ariel Cheng ) answered me Today: Red wire: VCC power (+12V) Green wire: Tx, Output signal White wire: Rx, imput signal Black wire: Ground Gray wire: Shield wire, signal ground Blue wire: Not usedSo I tried switching the black loose or shield and replaced it with white and put the shield wire with the other black wire on the neg power ( Green to NMEA IN + and White to NMEA IN - ) Still nothingSo I placed the white to NMEA OUT + NothingLastly I placed the white to NMEA OUT - NothingAny help would be greatly appreciatedRichSee More
