Hi.I am installing a Raymarine X-5 autopilot, but my pedestal doesn't accommodate the bracket exactly under the wheel's hub (this is a 25 foot sailboat that doesn't have a vertical steering column per se. The place where the bracket should go is occupied by an RPM gauge.I can put it on the side, say 10 o'clock, behind the wheel. Would that work? Would the autopilot still be able to perform optimally? To my mind, the bracket needs to offer  a fixed point of leverage for the wheel, wherever that point may be.Thank you!See More
