I have an older C80 (2005 vintage) that has suddenly stopped working. First sign of trouble came when I turned it on and the unit began a factory reset, all by itself. After repeatedly doing this, the unit was not responsive to any of the buttons being pushed, and would eventually shut down and restart again. After doing this a few times, the unit is now dead, no signs of life. So I sent it to a Raymarine dealer in Vancouver (BC), I have been told that the buttons are no longer functioning. I was then informed that the "flat rate" at Raymarine for repairs is $800, and requires shipping to the US. Is this truly the case? If so, my options are thus:- Throw it away and buy a new unit from Raymarine. Seeing as my radar is analog and not digital, I was informed that it will not work on any new Raymarine units. Therefore I will end up with another piece of equipment that is useless.- Throw unit away and buy another manufacturer's brand (Garmin or Lowrance). Cheaper, but I still lose the radar function.- Send unit for repair, and hope that Raymarine can fix. It would seem to me that to spend $800 for a "maybe" seems crazy.I'm seeking advice, and would like to know if this is a known problem over time with the C80 or any of the C-Series units from 2005, and also if there is any solution to trying to use the radome I have already installed on any modern Raymarine multifunction displays.Thank you,AdrianSee More
