I have an older 2K radome that has been checked out at Raymarine Nashua within the past two years (along with what was an unused cable) and was deemed in great shape. It is connected to my RL70C high brightness display using an extension cable to enable easier disconnect when mast is lifted at haulout. I am having lots of "scanner not responding" problems which is related to connection problems, I would think. I have cleaned the connections themselves and have found that taking apart the connections and putting them back and/or jiggling them and SOMETIMES restores the scanner connection. Now, even messing with the connections doesn't get the scanner to respond.  I am planning to try to test the system by removing the display from its current position and plugging it directly into the main cable coming directly from the scanner, but my question now is can a cable itself go bad (assuming it is not cut somewhere) or is the problem almost always in the connectors themselves?  Or should I be considering some other issue entirely that produces the problem of the scanner not working.  And if I were to replace the extension, what is the correct model #?
