Dragonfly 7 Installation - First Fishfinder
Hi,I just purchased a Dragonfly 7 (my first fishfinder) for my Xpress H51 17 foot bass boat. My fishing usually consists of catching crappie and occassional bass in local lakes. With all the information the Dragonfly 7 can deliver, this fishfinder is probably more than I need to just identify structure and catch crappie/bass in less than 60 feet of water. However, for my first fishfinder, I thought I would buy a nice one. The demo pictures appear to be incredible and near photogenic as indicated in your advertising.I have been reviewing the Raymarine Technical Forum and it seems there are numerous issue discussions (screen going blank, heating issues, electrical issues, transducer mounting/positioning, etc...) associated with the Dragonfly. I do not know if these are a result of end user installation issues or if there are actual hardware/software issues with the Dragonfly. At the end of each discussion, the usual advice is either return the fishfinder to the dealer seller, if it still in the inital 30 day warranty, or return it to Raymarine for inspection and possible repair. The final outcome is usually not indicated in the issue discussion.I am looking forward to getting my Dragonfly 7 installed and take it out to my favorite lake for a test run. I am planning on using the RAM MOUNT "rugged" mounting system for easy removal and reinstallation on my next visit to the lake. My only concern so far is the Dragonfly's large transducer size and its exposure to possible damage. Do you know of any transducer protectors for the Dragonfly's transom mount? Anyway, I will play close attention to the installation instructions and hopefully not have any issues.Allen SquyresNew Forum MemberSee More
